A Prophet is Without Honor!
Mark 6:1-5 (NKJV)
Then He went out from there and came to His own country, and His disciples followed Him. And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, "Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands! Is this not, Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?" So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, "A PROPHET IS NOT WITHOUT HONOR EXCEPT IN HIS OWN COUNTRY, AMONG HIS OWN RELATIVES, AND IN HIS OWN HOUSE." Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.
These scriptures have gotten me through very hard times of rejection. Many times we will be rejected by those who knew us back in the day, or those who are the most familiar with us. As a person who stands for truth there will be times when you will be ostracized. Rejection is a part of this christian walk. They rejected our Savior and so will they reject us because we belong to Him, but I want to encourage you to know that just because man rejects you that does not mean that God has. In fact the very thing that is rejected by man is what God uses for His glory. The bible says,"But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty."The church is now living in an age where we only want to hear what makes the flesh feel good. So when the real voices come forth with a word that doesn't make you jump and shout such as "GET YOUR HOUSE IN ORDER" it will cause those who don't want the truth to reject the vessel in which God used to speak the word of correction through. When things like this take place because of the peoples unbelief what ever God had for you to do is hindered in that particular setting because they not only rejected you, but they rejected God Himself. I want to encourage you by saying no matter who rejects and refuses to accept you and the gifts that come with you know that you are accepted in the beloved. Know that man didn't call you so man can't shut your mouth. Continue to stand for righteousness, continue to speak forth truth, continue to seek holiness, because in the end you want to hear, "WELL DONE THY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT.!
